Hi! I’m Sophie, a Music Teacher and Music Therapist based in South West London. I live in SW14 and work in the surrounding areas. I’m also a Professional Bassoonist. Here’s a little about me:
From aged 12, I was awarded a place to study at the prestigious Purcell School of Music and I also attended the Junior Royal Academy of Music on Saturdays. I continued my studies as a scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (BMus hons) and Royal College of Music (Master’s), and was later awarded my MA in Music Therapy from the University of Roehampton.
I held the position of Co-Principal Bassoon with the Southbank Sinfonia and have played with many of the top UK orchestras, including the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra.
I am a passionate and dedicated instrumental teacher (all woodwind and piano) and run a successful private teaching practice. I also teach at Broomfield House School, the London Oratory School, Newland House School and Radnor House Prep School.
As a Music Therapist, I work with a range of client groups providing both individual and group sessions. Additionally, I work for the Otakar Kraus Music Trust (OKMT), providing music therapy sessions in a variety of settings and delivering specially adapted music lessons for children and young people with additional needs.
Outside of music, I’m a keen runner and also enjoy spending time at my allotment.
